Job Summary
Sets up and operates flexographic printing press to print designs or lettering on rolls of paper stock.
Essential Duties
- Reads job orders and sets up machinery for specific customer requirements.
- Checks and monitors quality of printing at prescribed intervals.
- Records and scans in appropriate documentation.
- Operates machinery at acceptable speeds and scrap levels.
- Performs all functions in the "Make Ready" process control.
- Obtains approval for startup from Quality Control or Supervision.
- Keeps machine and area clean, maintains housekeeping standards.
- Follows instructions for startup and end-of-day cleanup procedures.
- Troubleshoots mechanical or process control problems.
- Performs changeovers and basic machine adjustments as required.
- Follows instructions from Flexo Department Lead and Supervisor.
- Ensures safety protocols are followed and work rules are adhered to.
- Uses Autocount system proficiently.
- Provides direction to Press Assistant if applicable.
- Communicates professionally with co-workers.
- Willing to cross-train on other machinery as needed.
- Identifies non-conformance issues and reports to Lead Operator or Supervision.
- Differentiates between various colors and shades for quality control.
- Performs any other duties assigned by management.
- Attendance on-site is required.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directs and coordinates activities of the Press Assistant on each press.
Candidate Requirements
- Qualifications: Able to perform all essential duties satisfactorily; reasonable accommodations may be made for disabilities.
- Education and Experience: Prefer high school diploma or GED; 1-2 years flexo experience beneficial.
- Language Skills: Effective communication and ability to understand work instructions.
- Certificates and Registrations: Must pass safety control, color chart, and LOTO sign-off sheets.
- Other Skills: Basic math, reading a ruler, distinguishing colors, familiarity with small tools, basic computer navigation.
- Training: Safety, press operation, and doctor blade training required.
Physical Demands
Must be able to push, pull, kneel, reach, sit, hear, walk, see, stand for up to 10 hours, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform fine detail work.
Work Environment
Vibration from machinery, noise levels requiring PPE such as ear plugs or earmuffs. No other negatives noted.
