Banner Health is seeking a Medical Assistant to support clinicians and the nursing team in a fast-paced clinic setting in Tucson. You will take vital signs, perform in-office procedures, and assist with patient flow and documentation.

This role includes clerical support and care coordination for referrals, scheduling, and test results. The position is registry/per diem with flexible shifts and no guaranteed hours.

Qualifications

• Requires High School Diploma or GED and completion of an Accredited Medical Assisting Program.
• Certification must be obtained within 12 months if not certified at hire (RMA, CMA, CCMA, NCMA).
• Strong computer skills and proficiency with medical software are required.

Responsibilities

• Prepare patients for exams by taking and recording vital signs and noting chief complaints.
• Assist providers with exams and minor in-office procedures including phlebotomy and ear irrigation.
• Coordinate patient care: referrals, pre-certifications, scheduling, and communicating test results.
• Maintain medical records and complete billing-related documentation promptly.
• Ensure a clean, safe clinical environment and proper disinfection of equipment and rooms.
• Monitor inventory of medications and immunizations.
• Communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff; support clinicians and nursing staff.
• Complete onboarding and simulation training as directed and work under provider supervision.
• Interact with multiple departments and external contacts to support patient care.
