Job summary

Nurse Next Door is seeking compassionate Home Care Aides in California to provide nonmedical support to seniors in their homes. This role emphasizes empathy, reliability, and the ability to follow care plans while maintaining client dignity.

Part-time or full-time hours are available across mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends. Applicants must meet CA Home Care Aide Registry requirements and pass background checks; training is provided.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years of age.
• Current registration with the California Home Care Aide Registry.
• Completion of a criminal background check and disclosure of any history.
• Evidence of entry-level training or plan to complete paid training.
• Evidence of tuberculosis testing and clearance.
• Ability to read and follow written instructions and document care.
• Self-directing with the ability to work with little supervision.
• Empathy for the needs of the ill, injured, frail and the impaired.
• Demonstrates tact, patience, and good personal hygiene.
• Valid driver’s license and auto insurance or reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

• Execute the client’s care plan as outlined by the Care Designer.
• Assist clients with ADLs (Activities of Daily Living) within the scope of practice.
• Assist with personal hygiene: skin, mouth, hair care, bathing and dressing.
• Assist with transfers, positioning and ambulation.
• Assist with prescribed exercises taught by health professionals.
• Meal planning and preparation, including therapeutic diets, and assisting with eating.
• Assist clients to the bathroom or in using commodes and incontinence care.
• Perform household tasks including housekeeping, laundry, transportation, shopping and companionship.
• Provide medication reminders as needed and follow instructions.
• Report changes in client condition to the administrator or care designer.
• Complete records of services performed.
• Drive to appointments or run errands and record all hours worked.
• Remain alert and ready to assist whenever needed, and participate in required trainings.
• Maintain an active CA Home Care Aide Registry status.
