Job summary

Akumin is hiring a Patient Coordinator for its mobile unit in Patterson, CA. This full-time role focuses on delivering excellent patient care, handling registration, insurance verification, and smooth patient flow in a mobile radiology/oncology setting.

The position requires strong customer service, organizational skills, and the ability to work at multiple locations. CPR certification and a valid driver’s license are preferred, with HIPAA-compliant practices. Benefits accompany employment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• CPR Certification must be obtained prior to hire.
• Valid state driver's license may be required.
• Ability to work at several locations.
• Knowledge of medical terminology is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Greets and assists patients, customers and visitors in person and over the phone.
• Performs patient registration in various systems.
• Answers all phone calls in a professional manner.
• May collect monies for time-of-service patient responsibility.
• May verify insurance coverage and obtain prior authorization.
• May perform preliminary screening of patients prior to procedures.
• May transport patient to/from the exam room.
• May assist in patient transfer on/off the exam table.
• May transport patient to/from the exam room.
• May provide preliminary and post-procedure instructions.
• Will maintain a clean and organized work area.
• May order supplies and ensure the work area is stocked.
• Will ensure accuracy of patient records.
• May schedule patient appointments and obtain insurance verification/authorization.
• May prepare medical records for physicians, patients and customers.
• Ensures accurate documentation of patient visits in electronic systems.
• May assist the clinical staff with documentation and image delivery to the patient/physician.
• Performs all duties within HIPAA regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.
