Job summary

Optum's CAREtenders Westborough team in Rhode Island is seeking a Physical Therapist Assistant to perform treatment and provide exercise instruction within the established plan of care.

You will follow state laws, assist patients with active and passive exercise, observe responses, document progress, and educate patients and families while collaborating with the supervising Physical Therapist and healthcare team.

Qualifications

• Current, licensed, registered, or certified to assist in the practice of physical therapy in state of practice.
• Current driver's license and vehicle insurance, access to a dependable vehicle, or public transportation.
• Available to work a weekend rotation.
• Preferred: CPR certification or ability to complete within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to perform physical tasks required for patient care, including lifting, transferring, and assisting with mobility.

Responsibilities

• Following state laws governing the provision of physical therapy in home care and following the plan of care.
• Instructs and aids patients in active and passive exercise, muscle re-education, gait, functional activities, transfers, and prosthetic training.
• Observes, records, and reports patient responses and changes to the supervising PT and care team.
• Instructs patient, family, caregiver, and other health care team members in therapy within the PT assistant scope.
• Function in diverse home situations respecting all backgrounds.
