Job summary

Good Samaritan in De Smet, SD is seeking a Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide resident-centered care in a long-term care setting. You will assist with daily living activities, mobility, and vital signs under RN supervision, while following infection prevention protocols.

The role involves variable shifts including days, evenings, nights, and weekends with FLEX scheduling and premium pay for non-blocked hours and weekends.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED preferred, but not required.
• Minimum age 16. Prior clinical or nursing assistant experience in long-term care preferred.
• CNA certification with the State Board of Nursing, or state certified CNA within four months of date into the position by being enrolled in a training program or in the process of obtaining certification through Endorsement. CNA training and certification provided by facility.
• Complete yearly department-specific competency testing and maintain 12 hours of continuing education annually.
• When applicable, certified and registered with the Unlicensed Assistive Person (UAP) Registry.
• May classify as a Sanford Category II Driver requiring a motor vehicle report and valid driver’s license; must be medically qualified per the Driving Policy.

Responsibilities

• Provide resident-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned residents.
• Assist with transferring, repositioning, and walking using correct techniques and equipment.
• Provide range of motion and passive exercises as part of routine care.
• Assist with meals, dining, and assisted feeding; ensure a positive dining experience.
• Document resident interactions and communicate changing conditions to the charge nurse.
• Assist with housekeeping and laundry to maintain clean, functional living areas.
• Support wellness and recreational programs and participate in committees as needed.
