Job summary

The Sygma Network, Inc. is seeking an entry-level Fleet Technician apprentice to learn preventive maintenance inspections and repairs on a variety of vehicles and equipment (tractors, trailers, lift gates).

Under supervision, you will gain hands-on experience to support safe, reliable, and cost-efficient fleet operations. You will document work in SAP, help assess roadworthiness and DOT compliance, and collaborate with the fleet team to plan prioritized maintenance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent and two-year heavy-duty truck training.
• No prior experience required with proper education.
• Valid driver's license; CDL-A preferred.
• Knowledge of vehicle systems and components.
• Basic diagnosis and repair of electrical systems.
• Welding and cutting (gas, electric, MIG, TIG).
• Good physical condition for inspections and repairs.
• Ability to comply with DOT safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Learn to perform required inspections and preventive maintenance under supervision.
• Learn to diagnose malfunctions and perform repairs on engines, transmissions, fuel and ignition systems, exhaust, HVAC, and more.
• Document all work in SAP with problem, cause and correction format.
• Develop efficiency using Sysco computer programs.
• Decide if equipment is roadworthy and meets DOT regulations before release.
• Collaborate with management to create a prioritized maintenance schedule.
