Job summary

Sysco is seeking a Fleet Technician Journeyman trainee to support safe, reliable vehicles through learning inspections, preventive maintenance, and basic repairs on tractors, trailers, and related equipment. The role focuses on diagnostics, road-call responses, and adherence to DOT standards.

You will document work in SAP, coordinate with supervisors, and gain hands-on experience across engines, electrical systems, HVAC, and lift gates to reduce downtime and improve fleet reliability.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 2-year heavy-duty truck technical training.
• No prior experience required beyond education.

Responsibilities

• Learn to perform inspections and preventive maintenance under supervision to maximize safety and reliability.
• Learn to diagnose and repair engines, transmissions, fuel and ignition systems, exhaust, HVAC, and liftgate components.
• Document all work in SAP using standard format (complaint, cause, correction).
• Develop efficiency in Sysco computer programs related to maintenance tasks.
• Determine roadworthiness and DOT compliance before return to operations.
• Help management create a prioritized maintenance schedule based on operations needs.
