Job summary

City of Eugene seeks a Fleet Service Worker to perform routine preventative maintenance and repair on City-owned vehicles and equipment, including EVs, hybrid, and diesel fleets. The role includes tire service, preventive inspections, and light electrical work, with supervision from fleet staff.

The position is located at 1820 Roosevelt Blvd, Eugene, with a Monday–Friday schedule, and offers competitive benefits under AFSCME. Employment may be limited-duration up to 24 months.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in preventative maintenance or repair of automotive, medium/heavy-duty, hybrid, or electric vehicles and equipment.
• Two years of specialized training in automotive and/or heavy equipment repair from an accredited trade school or college; EV/Hybrid training preferred.
• Valid Oregon Class A driver’s license or ability to obtain within 12 months; driving records check required.
• At least one ASE certification within 12 months; EV/Hybrid Safety Level 1 preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs general repair and service on vehicles and equipment including EV/hybrid powertrains.
• Reviews service requests and updates maintenance records in fleet systems.
• Performs oil changes, fluid service, battery service, tire service, and light mechanical work.
• Operates tire machines and suspension/balancing equipment; safety procedures followed.
