Job summary

City of Watauga seeks an experienced maintenance repair mechanic to service the City’s fleet, including emergency vehicles. The role combines hands-on repair work with supervision of mechanics and management of parts/work orders. You’ll diagnose diesel and gasoline engines, electrical and hydraulic systems, and perform preventative maintenance.

Eligibility requires a high school diploma and 6 years in automotive/heavy equipment repairs with some leadership. ASE/EVT certifications are preferred.

Qualifications

• Requires six years of job-related automotive and heavy equipment repairs incl. supervisory lead.
• ASE and EVT certifications preferred within 1 year of employment.

Responsibilities

• Perform repairs to City fleet of standard and emergency vehicles and equipment.
• Supervise fleet maintenance personnel and plan work assignments.
• Diagnose engines, electrical, hydraulic, and brake systems; perform complex repairs.
• Respond to roadside or field repairs as needed.
• Manage parts, supplies, and tools; ensure proper documentation and record keeping.
