Job summary

Milwaukee County Transit System is seeking a Safety & Training Instructor to develop and deliver training curriculums for Maintenance staff, including safety, vehicle service, and repairs. Qualifications

• Five (5) years of heavy/light duty mechanical repair experience in diesel service or battery-operated bus technology.
• Must have a valid, Class D Wisconsin driver’s license (non-probationary) for at least one (1) year prior to date of application.
• Valid Class B Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) with Passenger Endorsement and no airbrake restriction.
• Experience in creation and delivery of training programs with emphasis in industrial safety and/or mechanical systems preferred.
• Must be able to work all three shifts to accomplish training objectives.
• Excellent attendance and overall work record.

Responsibilities

• Develops curriculum for equipment including tooling, air conditioning, brakes, suspension, transmission and engines.
• Indirectly supervises trainers assigned to Garages and Fleet Maintenance and collaborates on training for new bus technologies.
• Identifies and develops a training plan of action for new Maintenance personnel.
• Provides training to staff at three locations and shifts.
• Administers practical hands-on training for applicants and current staff.
• Conducts vehicle accident investigations and DOT-compliant reporting.
• Maintains tire safety certification and recertification every three years.
