Job summary

Detroit Axle is seeking an experienced Safety Compliance Officer to oversee fleet safety and regulatory compliance in Lincoln Park, MI. The role focuses on ensuring drivers, vehicles, and operations meet FMCSA and DOT requirements while maintaining accurate records for audits.

Key duties include managing DQ files, monitoring licenses and ELDs, and coordinating driver safety training. This is a full-time position with a focus on compliance excellence and cross-team collaboration.

Qualifications

• Experience in fleet safety, transportation compliance, or a related field.
• Strong knowledge of FMCSA and DOT regulations.
• Familiarity with DQ files, HOS, ELDs, DOT inspections, and Clearinghouse requirements.
• Excellent organizational, documentation, and communication skills.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel or fleet management systems.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain Driver Qualification (DQ) files and driver compliance documentation.
• Monitor CDL licenses, medical certificates, MVRs, Clearinghouse requirements, and drug and alcohol testing compliance.
• Ensure compliance with FMCSA/DOT regulations and required registrations.
• Track vehicle inspections, maintenance records, and safety documentation.
• Monitor Hours of Service (HOS), Electronic Logging Devices (ELDs), and driver violations.
• Review accidents, roadside inspections, citations, and safety incidents.
• Monitor CSA/SMS safety performance and coordinate corrective actions.
• Organize compliance records and prepare for DOT audits.
• Coordinate driver safety training and onboarding.
• Work closely with fleet management, dispatch, drivers, and maintenance teams.
