Job summary

City of Hampton seeks a Fleet Coordinator to oversee maintenance, repairs, inspections, fueling, and cleaning of the fleet. You will ensure adherence to preventive maintenance schedules and fleet policies, while tracking data and managing DMV registrations.

The role supports emergency operations, weather response plans, and accreditation efforts. A safety-sensitive position requiring background checks and a Virginia driver’s license with a clean record.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; associate degree preferred.
• At least 3 years of experience in fleet management or facilities coordination.
• Equivalent education/experience considered.
• Must pass criminal history and background check.
• Safety sensitive position with drug/alcohol testing per policy.
• Must possess and maintain a Virginia driver’s license with satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate vehicle maintenance, repairs, inspections, fueling, and cleaning.
• Ensure compliance with preventive maintenance schedules and fleet policies.
• Track fleet data, reports, and documentation using computerized systems.
• Manage DMV registrations and vehicle assignments.
• Support emergency operations, continuity of service, and weather response plans.
• Monitor fleet readiness, availability, and uptime.
• Serve as a lead worker and assist with accreditation and compliance efforts.
