Job summary

The City of Gastonia is seeking a Service Advisor to act as the liaison between City departments and Fleet Services. You will coordinate vehicle service and maintenance requests, manage work orders, and provide status updates to departments and vendors.

A background in fleet or automotive operations is preferred. Responsibilities include intake, tracking, and completion of work orders, scheduling PMs, and generating reports on fleet activity and costs.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma or GED is required.
• Completion of technical or vocational training in automotive repair, fleet management, or a related field is required.
• A technical certificate in a relevant discipline, along with at least two years of experience in fleet maintenance operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the liaison between City departments and Fleet Services and coordinate vehicle service and maintenance requests.
• Ensure the intake, tracking, and completion of work orders with high customer service levels.
• Assist with coordination between Parts Room staff and outside vendors; provide status updates to departments.
• Create, manage, and close work orders in the fleet management system.
• Schedule preventive maintenance and repairs to minimize equipment downtime.
• Review work orders for accurate labor, parts, and sublet charges and provide timely status updates.
• Prepare reports on fleet activity, maintenance trends, and costs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
