Job summary

J.B. Hunt Transport, Inc. in Dallas, TX is seeking a Manager Trainee to learn driver management and non-traditional shifts, including nights and weekends, while ensuring safe, on-time freight movement and top-tier customer service.

You will be trained to oversee carrier relationships, payroll and budgeting tasks, and reporting, with a focus on continuous improvement and DOT compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or HS diploma with 1 year related experience.
• Willing to travel to account, customer and company events.
• Ability to work across nights and/or weekends.
• Experience managing a team is preferred.
• Ability to analyze situations and make informed decisions.
• Adaptability to changing environments and client needs.
• Ability to build healthy relationships with clients, vendors and peers.

Responsibilities

• Learn to build positive relationships with drivers and safe carriers to set up new carriers and maximize productivity.
• Fill in for absent personnel and work on special optimization projects.
• Train drivers and staff on internal systems and processes.
• Maximize fleet efficiency and profitability; measure KPIs and prepare reporting.
• Manage inventory, assets and driver assignments to balance equipment.
• Handle payroll, budget management, driver coaching, accident reviews and invoicing.
• Oversee yard operations; coordinate maintenance and safety repairs.
• Collaborate with drivers, customers, and staff to resolve service issues and routing concerns.
• Maintain DOT compliance and enforce safety policies.
• Plan loads, routes and monitor freight movement, including ETA adjustments.
• Address freight exceptions and other on-road environmental factors.
