Job summary

The City of Clermont is seeking an experienced Public Services Fleet Manager to direct the centralized Fleet Division in Florida. The role includes planning, directing fleet operations, and supervising city staff and contractors.

The incumbent will develop maintenance programs, manage budgets, ensure regulatory compliance, and coordinate with other departments to meet service levels and city needs.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of supervisor experience in automotive field or a Bachelor’s degree in Automotive Technology, Business Management or related discipline.
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the automotive repair industry.
• Two (2) years of heavy and light truck and equipment repair.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervises the Fleet Operations staff and manages interviewing, training, performance evaluations, and handling personnel issues.
• Supervises repair, rework, and maintenance of City vehicles; allocates and monitors workload.
• Reviews equipment specifications, performs cost analyses, and negotiates vehicle purchases.
• Develops and implements maintenance programs; coordinates with City departments to meet needs and priorities.
• Manages budget development, approvals, and adherence to maintenance costs and contracts.
• Ensures compliance with regulatory requirements and safety procedures; maintains records and reports.
