Job summary

The City of Sarasota seeks a qualified Fleet Services Manager to oversee all vehicles, equipment, and emergency gear. You will supervise staff, maintain preventative maintenance programs, and coordinate replacement plans with budget constraints.

You will plan and manage department budgets, report on fleet status and ensure safety standards are met. A CDL is required or obtainable within 6 months, with a strong focus on staff development and quality service delivery.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED, 8+ years as a journeyworker mechanic, with 3 years of supervisory experience.
• Certification as Fleet Equipment Manager or obtain within one year of hire.
• Valid Florida Commercial Driver License or ability to obtain within 6 months.

Responsibilities

• Manage the operation of Fleet Services vehicles, equipment, supplies and emergency gear.
• Establish preventative maintenance programs and align replacement schedules with funds.
• Plan budgets, track expenditures, and maintain records of fleet activities.
• Supervise and develop subordinate personnel and conduct performance reviews.
