Job summary

The City of Clermont is seeking a seasoned Public Services Fleet Manager to direct the centralized Fleet Division, plan, coordinate, and supervise the maintenance, servicing, modification, and repair of municipal vehicles, and oversee replacement and disposal decisions.

In addition to budgeting, procurement, and contract oversight, you will develop and implement fleet computer systems, establish standards, enforce safety, supervise staff, and collaborate across city departments.

Qualifications

• Five (5) years of experience as a supervisor in an automotive field.
• Five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in the automotive repair industry.
• Two (2) years of heavy and light truck and equipment repair.
• FEMA IS100, IS700 and IS200 certifications within six (6) months from date of employment.
• Master level ASE certified mechanic is preferred.
• Valid Florida Driver’s License.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise the Fleet Operations staff and oversee interviewing, training, and performance evaluations.
• Assign, supervise, and coordinate work of the Public Services Fleet crew in repair and maintenance.
• Review specifications, determine equipment needs, and analyze cost trends.
• Select and negotiate vehicle purchases based on department needs and specifications.
• Develop and implement computer systems and software for Fleet operations.
• Prepare annual budget, monitor costs, and review program goals and objectives.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and safety practices.
