Job summary

Laramie County is seeking a Fleet Shop & Fleet Operations Manager to oversee maintenance, repair, inspection, readiness, acquisition, replacement, and disposition of vehicles and equipment. You will supervise shop personnel, set priorities, manage budgets, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities include planning maintenance, supervising technicians, maintaining records, coordinating with vendors, developing replacement strategies, and ensuring timely repairs.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED with 5 years of automotive/fleet maintenance experience, including 3 years in lead or supervisory roles.
• Valid Class A CDL with Tanker and Doubles/Triples endorsements or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Knowledge of fleet maintenance, preventive maintenance, and fleet-management systems.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, supervise, and coordinate daily Shop & Fleet operations; assign and prioritize work based on needs and safety.
• Oversee preventive maintenance, inspections, repairs, work orders, records, and fleet availability; communicate concerns to Public Works management.
• Inspect completed work for quality, safety; provide technical direction and assist with complex diagnosis of automotive and heavy equipment systems.
• Coordinate emergency, priority, warranty, and outside repairs; supervise assigned personnel and conduct evaluations.
• Maintain fleet, maintenance, and inventory records; develop budgets and monitor expenditures; promote safety and compliance.
