Job summary

Zoox seeks a Senior Team Lead, Fleet Support for Base Operations to act as both hands-on technician and strategic owner of daily vehicle maintenance for the Robotaxi fleet. You will lead technicians, implement SOPs, and champion safety and continuous improvement on the shop floor.

You’ll translate high-level objectives into actionable plans, manage KPIs, and partner with Engineering, Facilities, and Operations Leadership to scale operations and readiness across multiple sites.

Qualifications

8+ years hands-on automotive technician experience.
4+ years of people leadership experience in technical/auto/high-volume service.
Experience implementing SOPs, standard work, and operational processes in complex environments.
Strong EH&S knowledge and 5S methodologies.
Extensive knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostics, parts and tools.
High proficiency in CAN/LIN architecture, wiring diagrams, and soldering.
Excellent written and verbal communication with stakeholders across levels.
Willingness to travel locally and nationally (50%+), with a clean driving record.

Responsibilities

Manage the full team lifecycle: workforce planning, recruiting, onboarding, and performance management.
Coach and develop technicians and leads with clear expectations and feedback.
Develop and enforce SOPs across inspections, maintenance, and upgrades.
Leverage data and root cause analysis to improve throughput and uptime.
Ensure tools, equipment, parts, and facilities are standardized and available.
Champion EH&S and 5S, maintaining a safe, organized environment.
Identify and mitigate risks; lead corrective actions for safety and process gaps.
Define and track KPIs on fleet readiness, quality, and downtime.
Collaborate with Engineering, Test, and Facilities to align on roadmaps.
Lead scaling initiatives for fleet size and new platforms.
Serve as escalation point for complex maintenance and configuration changes.
Communicate risks and trade-offs to leadership for agile decisions.
Coordinate with local leadership on location needs and escalations.
