Job summary

Zoox in Dallas, TX seeks a Senior Team Lead, Fleet Maintenance to guide a team of vehicle technicians and ensure high uptime for the Robotaxi fleet. This hands-on leader will drive daily maintenance, teach strong technical practices, and execute SOPs across the shop while partnering with Engineering and Operations to support growth and safety.

The role requires 8+ years of automotive experience and 4+ years in leadership, with strong CAN/LIN and diagnostic skills; travel 50%+ is expected.

Qualifications

8+ years hands-on automotive technician experience.
4+ years people leadership experience in technical or high-volume service environments.
Proven experience implementing and improving SOPs and standard work.
Strong understanding of EH&S compliance and 5S methodologies.
Extensive knowledge of automotive systems, diagnostics, parts, and tools.
High proficiency in CAN/LIN architecture, wiring diagrams, and soldering.

Responsibilities

Manage the full team lifecycle: workforce planning, recruiting, onboarding, and performance management.
Coach technicians and leads; establish expectations and succession plans.
Develop and enforce SOPs across workflows; ensure documentation reflects execution.
Use data and root-cause analysis to improve throughput and vehicle uptime.
Ensure tools, parts, and facilities meet operational demand.
Champion EH&S and 5S; maintain a safe, compliant work environment.
Identify and mitigate safety risks; lead corrective actions.
Define and track KPIs related to fleet readiness, quality, and downtime.
Collaborate with Engineering, Test, and Facilities to align on roadmaps.
Lead strategic scaling initiatives for fleet size and new platforms.
