Job summary

ContainerPort Group, Charlotte, NC, seeks a Fleet Manager to serve as the direct link between drivers and customers, supporting day-to-day operations and ensuring on-time, productive service. You will manage a fleet of owner-operators, drive load planning and contractor relationships, and maintain DOT compliance in a fast-paced environment.

Qualified candidates bring 2–5 years in intermodal transport, strong communication, and proficiency with dispatch systems and MS Office.

Qualifications

• 2–5 years intermodal/container transportation experience.
• Working knowledge of DOT regulations.
• Experience working with fleet of contractors/owner operators.
• Exemplary customer service and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent communication and ability to convey information clearly.
• Strategic thinker in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient with dispatch tools and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and supervise our fleet of owner-operators.
• Monitor delivery performance, fleet profitability and regulatory compliance.
• Assign equipment as needed to maximize efficiency.
• Oversee load distribution among contractors for optimal productivity.
• Plan delivery orders to create efficient load drop-offs and pickups.
• Coordinate load acceptance/declination with Customer Success.
• Negotiate rates with contractors outside the ICOA.
• Develop lasting relationships with contractors to improve retention.
• Resolve disputes involving contractors and monitor DOT compliance.
• Coordinate required training for the contractor fleet.
