Job summary

The City of El Paso seeks a vehicle maintenance technician to perform preventative maintenance on municipal vehicles and equipment in both shop and field settings. You will conduct Texas State inspections, log defects and service history, and ensure safety standards are met.

Applicants should have two years of vehicle servicing experience, a Texas Class C license, and be prepared for CDL/HazMat or vehicle Inspector licenses if required. Drug testing may be required for safety-sensitive roles.

Qualifications

• Two years of vehicle servicing and lubrication experience.
• Valid Texas Class C Driver’s License or equivalent.
• Some positions may require a Class B CDL with HazMat.
• Some positions may require a State of Texas Vehicle Inspector License within six months.
• Positions with CDL or safety-sensitive duties require drug and alcohol testing.
• General duties include preventative maintenance and vehicle inspections.

Responsibilities

• Perform preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Conduct Texas State vehicle inspections for safety compliance.
• Inspect and log defects, mileage, and work performed on work orders.
• Lubricate moving parts and change fluids and filters.
• Remove, inspect, and replace parts like belts, hoses, tires, and brakes.
• Assist with minor repairs and refueling; maintain shop cleanliness.
