Job summary

The City of El Paso seeks a skilled technician to install, repair and maintain electronic and electromechanical systems, including toll equipment, fare boxes, display signs, video/audio announcements, radios, clocks, traffic signals, and related components. A high school diploma or GED and two years’ experience are required.

Under supervision, you will troubleshoot, operate testing equipment, ensure safety, respond to emergencies and outside-hours calls, and keep detailed records.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Two years experience servicing electronic, electro-mechanical or telecommunication systems.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot and repair or replace toll equipment.
• Maintain and repair fare boxes, flip dot display signs, video or audio announcement systems, two-way radios, clock systems, traffic signals, motor components, and other electronic/electromechanical equipment.
• Install and repair electronic/electromechanical equipment and systems; assist in repair of complex control systems such as utility treatment plant instrumentation and process monitoring and control systems.
• Operate testing equipment and verify repairs.
• Perform duties to ensure continuity of operations; maintain cleanliness of tools, work areas, and observe safety practices.
• Respond to user questions and furnish information; respond to emergency calls for service on a call-out basis and work outside normal working hours as needed.
• Maintain and update files, records, reports and logs.
