Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Technician to service tractors, trailers, forklifts, and related equipment. The role focuses on preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs to ensure safe, efficient operation.

The position requires ASE certifications, a Class A CDL preferred, and the ability to operate various tools and diagnostic equipment. Strong documentation skills and safety compliance are essential.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is preferred.
• 1 year experience in vehicle maintenance or completion of a vehicle maintenance certificate or FedEx Freight Apprentice Program.
• One or more Medium/Heavy Truck ASE Certifications and Class A CDL preferred.
• Must possess necessary tools to perform assigned tasks.
• Valid driver’s license may be required depending on work assignment.
• Knowledge of testing equipment, gauges and diagnostic systems.
• Basic computer skills including maintenance programs and diagnostic systems.
• Basic knowledge of gas and diesel engines.
• Familiarity with precision measurement instruments and lifting devices preferred.
• Able to lift components weighing approximately 110 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to operate vehicles with manual and automatic transmission.
• Ability to enter/exit driver’s compartment safely.
• Paint and body work experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and/or as a team member.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative and routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment.
• Performs basic diagnostics to identify sources of trouble and adjust equipment for safe operation.
• Collaborates with other technicians on maintenance and repairs.
• Documents all maintenance performed, reports in writing and electronically.
• Performs safety inspections of equipment and documents the work.
• Performs paint and body work on vehicles as required.
• Complies with laws, regulations and company policies; performs other duties as required.
