Job summary

MTM Transit in Tucson, AZ is seeking a skilled Maintenance Technician to maintain, service, diagnose, and repair MTM Transit service vehicles and facilities. You will work with automotive systems, use diagnostic equipment, and ensure accurate electronic work orders and safety compliance.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, valid AZ CDL with passenger endorsement, clean driving record, ability to pass DOT physical and drug screening, and ASE certifications preferred.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Must be 21 years or older.
• Valid Arizona CDL with passenger endorsement.
• Clean driving record with no DUI/DWI in past 5 years.
• DOT physical and pre-employment drug screening required.
• Able to pass background and MVR checks.
• ASE certifications preferred (level B).

Responsibilities

• Maintain, service, diagnose, and repair MTM Transit service vehicles.
• Perform general maintenance for MTM Transit facilities and grounds.
• Repair automotive and powertrain systems, electrical and HVAC as needed.
• Maintain shop with servicing vehicle lifts and pumps.
• Accurately complete electronic work orders.
• Adhere to safety procedures and company policies.

Location: 829 West Silverlake Road, Tucson, AZ 85713

Schedule: 1:00pm - 9:30pm, Monday - Friday

Pay: $28.00 - $29.00/hr depending on experience

What you’ll do:

• Responsible for maintenance, service, diagnosing, & repair of MTM Transit service vehicles
• Responsible for general maintenance and repairs of MTM Transit facilities and grounds
• Areas of repair to include but not limited to: automotive vehicle, light duty truck , powertrains, undercarriage/ chassis, electronic and electrical equipment, air conditioning and heating systems, and vehicle accessories and equipment drivability and diagnosis
• Assist in maintaining shop and facility to include servicing vehicle lifts, pumps, and like equipment
• Ensure accuracy when completing electronic work orders
• Perform additional duties as assigned or required

What you’ll need:

• Experience, Education & Certifications: High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
• Must be 21 years or older
• Must have and maintain a valid Arizona CDL with passenger endorsement
• No reckless driving offenses within the past 5 years
• No convictions involving moral turpitude within the past 5 years
• No DUI or DWI convictions
• Possess valid authorization to work in the United States
• Must be able to pass a DOT Physical and pre-employment drug screening
• Must pass criminal background check and investigation & Motor Vehicle Record check
• Must possess the AC609 Certification or ability to obtain
• Experience using hand and power tools, machinery, sophisticated test and diagnostic equipment related to automotive repair
• Must possess proper hand tools or willing to obtain. MTM will supply diagnostic, heavy and specialty equipment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Good organizational skills with attention to timeliness and details
• Proficient in computer skills to ensure electronic repair work orders are completed correctly
• Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures
• Ability to attend safety and vehicle repair course as may be required
• Willing to adhere to company policies, procedures and regulations
• Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
• Regular attendance is required
• Even better if you have... ASE certifications preferred for level B mechanic

• $$$ Master ASE certification in an approved series, the employee will receive an annual bonus of $2,500. For each year the employee retains their Master ASE in an approved series you will receive $2,500. Each initial passing of an ASE test you will now receive a one time bonus of $250.00. MTM will pay for each test for the technicians up to 2 times per test. If a technician fails their test multiple times (2) then MTM may choose to have the technician pay for additional testing for the same test and would then reimburse the technician upon passing.
