Job summary

MTM Transit is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Technician (B) to perform repairs and diagnostics on our fleet at the Phoenix location. The role focuses on electrical, HVAC, drivability, suspension, and complete vehicle maintenance, with work orders tracked in our computerized system.

Location: 4525 E. University Dr., Phoenix, AZ 85034. Schedule: Tue-Fri 8:30am-5:00pm, Sat 7:00am-3:00pm. Pay: $21-$25 per hour based on experience and certifications.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
1+ years auto/truck experience or automotive coursework for entry level C level position.
Multi-year experience and certifications considered for A/B level positions.
Ability to obtain ASE automotive series certification.
Ability to obtain the AC609 certification.
Experience in diagnostics and trouble shooting.
Experience using hand and power tools.
Provide own air and hand tools as required.

Responsibilities

Maintain, service, diagnose, and repair MTM AAA vehicles.
Maintain MTM facilities and grounds.
Repair areas include automotive diagnostics, powertrains, electrical systems, HVAC, and drivability.
Keep vehicle lifts, pumps, and equipment in good condition.
Ensure accuracy when completing electronic work orders.
Perform additional duties as assigned.

What will your job look like?

The Fleet Maintenance Technician (B) will perform vehicle repairs and diagnostics in the proper maintenance of fleet vehicles including electrical, HVAC, drivability, suspension and complete vehicle repairs and maintenance and for communicating the status of repairs and parts needed in a computerized Maintenance management system using the 3 “C” s.

Location: 4525 E. University Dr. Phoenix, AZ 85034

Schedule: Tuesday - Friday: 8:30am - 5:00pm

Saturday: 7:00am - 3:00pm

Pay Rate: $21 - $25 per hour depending on experience

What you’ll do:

Responsible for maintenance, service, diagnosing, & repair of MTM AAA vehicles.
Responsible for general maintenance and repairs of AAA facilities and grounds.
Areas of repair to include but not limited to: automotive vehicle, light duty truck , powertrains, undercarriage/ chassis, electronic and electrical equipment, air conditioning and heating systems, and vehicle accessories and equipment drivability and diagnosis.
Assist in maintaining shop and facility to include servicing vehicle lifts, pumps, and like equipment.
Ensure accuracy when completing electronic work orders.
Perform additional duties as assigned or required.

What you’ll need:

High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.
Must have minimum of 1+ years of auto/truck experience or automotive courses from automotive institute for entry level C level position.
Multi year experience and certifications a plus for A and B level positions
Ability to obtain ASE automotive series certification.
Ability to obtain the AC609 certification.
Experience in diagnostics and trouble shooting.
Experience using hand and power tools.
Provide own air and hand tools as required.
Must be 21 years of age or older
Valid Arizona Driver's license
Minimum of 5 years driving history
No pending charges
No convicted felony charges in past 7 years
No DUI or DWI convictions
Must pass criminal background check & motor vehicle record investigation
Must pass a DOT physical if over the age of 65 including a pre-employment drug screening
Must pass criminal background check & motor vehicle record investigation
Valid Authorization to work in the United States

Even better if you have... Knowledge of diesel engine mechanics preferred.
Preferred ASE certifications for level B mechanic.

$$$$ Master ASE certification in an approved series, the employee will receive an annual bonus of $2,500. For each year the employee retains their Master ASE in an approved series you will receive $2,500. Each initial passing of an ASE test you will now receive a one time bonus of $250.00. MTM will pay for each test for the technicians up to 2 times per test. If a technician fails their test multiple times (2) then MTM may choose to have the technician pay for additional testing for the same test and would then reimburse the technician upon passing.

Salary Min: $21/HR Salary Max: $25/HR This information reflects the base salary pay range for this job based on current national market data. Ranges may vary based on the job's location. We offer competitive pay that varies based on individual skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
