Job summary

MTM Transit is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Technician Class A to service a 112-vehicle fleet in Gilbert, AZ. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain vehicles, with training and ASE incentives provided to advance your skills.

The role emphasizes safety, reliability, and efficient operation of MTM Transit’s fleet, with on-site responsibilities including shop, equipment, and facility maintenance. A strong candidate will have 4+ years auto/truck experience and a valid driver’s license.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• AC609 certification or ability to obtain.
• Experience with automotive repair tools and diagnostic equipment.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Willing to pass DOT physical and background checks.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, diagnose, and repair MTM Transit service vehicles.
• Perform general maintenance on MTM Transit facilities and grounds.
• Complete electronic work orders accurately.
• Maintain shop and equipment and ensure safety compliance.

What will your job look like?

We are looking for a Fleet Maintenance Technician Class A to help maintain a fleet of 112 vehicles in our Gilbert, AZ location. This position consists of service, diagnosing, repair, and general maintenance of MTM Transit service vehicles. Our Fleet Maintenance staff are more than Mechanics. They are guardians of safety, efficiency, and reliability. Location: 436 S Hamilton Ct Gilbert, AZ 85233 Schedule: All available schedules include weekend days. $2500 Sign on bonus

What you'll do:

• Responsible for maintenance, electrical service, diagnosing, & repair of MTM Transit service vehicles
• Responsible for general maintenance and repairs of MTM Transit facilities and grounds
• Areas of repair to include but not limited to: automotive vehicle, light duty truck, heavy duty transit bus powertrains, undercarriage/ chassis, electronic and electrical equipment, air conditioning and heating systems, and vehicle accessories and equipment drivability and diagnosis
• Ensure accuracy when completing electronic work orders
• Assist in maintaining shop and facility to include servicing vehicle lifts, pumps, and like equipment as needed
• Perform additional duties as assigned or required

What you'll need:

• High school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent
• Must be 21 years or older
• Valid U.S. Driver's License for the past 3 years
• Possess valid authorization to work in the State of Arizona and the United States
• Must have minimum of 4+ years of auto/truck experience or automotive courses from automotive institute
• Must be able to pass DOT physical and pre-employment drug screening
• Must pass criminal background check investigation & Motor Vehicle Record check
• No DUI's, DWI's or Reckless driving in the past 5 years
• Must not have more than 1 moving violation during each of the last 3 years
• In the event that your license has been previously revoked, you must have at least 3 full subsequent years post reinstatement with no violations

Skills:

• Must possess the AC609 Certification or ability to obtain
• Experience using hand and power tools, machinery, sophisticated test and diagnostic equipment related to automotive repair
• Must possess proper hand tools or willing to obtain.
• MTM will supply diagnostic, heavy and specialty equipment
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Good organizational skills with attention to timeliness and details
• Proficient in computer skills to ensure electronic repair work orders are completed correctly
• Visibly demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures
• Ability to attend safety and vehicle repair course as may be required
• Willing to adhere to company policies, procedures and regulations
• Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality
• Regular attendance is required
• Even better if you have... ASE certifications preferred for level A mechanic

• MTM Transit ASE Certification Program $$$$ Master ASE certification in an approved series, the employee will receive an annual bonus of $2,500. For each year the employee retains their Master ASE in an approved series you will receive $2,500. Each initial passing of an ASE test you will now receive a one time bonus of $250.00. MTM will pay for each test for the technicians up to 2 times per test. If a technician fails their test multiple times (2) then MTM may choose to have the technician pay for additional testing for the same test and would then reimburse the technician upon passing.
