Job summary

FedEx Freight currently seeks a Fleet Maintenance Technician to provide timely, quality repair and preventive maintenance for tractors, trailers, forklifts, and related equipment. You will diagnose issues, perform repairs, and ensure thorough documentation of all work in both paper and electronic reports.

The role includes opportunities for ASE certification incentives, a $1,000 annual tool reimbursement, tuition reimbursement for ASE diesel certifications, and shift differential pay.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or GED), preferred.
• Must have 1 year experience performing vehicle maintenance or possess a vehicle maintenance certificate or completion of the FedEx Freight Apprentice Program.
• One or more Medium/Heavy Truck ASE Certifications and Class A CDL preferred.
• Must possess necessary tools to perform assigned tasks.
• Valid driver’s license may be required depending on work assignment.
• Knowledge of testing equipment, gauges and tools used for vehicle troubleshooting and repairs.
• Basic computer skills including maintenance programs and diagnostic systems.
• Basic knowledge of gas and diesel engines.
• Familiarity with precision measurement instruments and lifting devices preferred.
• Able to lift components weighing ~110 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to operate vehicles with manual/automatic transmission.
• Able to enter/exit driver’s compartment safely.
• Paint and body work experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative and routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment.
• Performs basic diagnostics to identify trouble sources and adjust equipment for safe operation.
• Collaborates with technicians for preventative maintenance and repairs.
• Ensures proper documentation of maintenance and completes reports.
• Performs safety inspections of equipment and documents work.
• Performs paint and body work on vehicles as required.
• Complies with laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Performs other duties as required.
