Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Technician to maintain and repair tractors, trailers, forklifts, and related equipment. You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnostics, and documentation to ensure safe, efficient operation across the fleet.

The role requires basic computer skills, knowledge of engines, and the ability to lift heavy components. ASE certifications and Class A CDL are preferred; some positions offer tuition reimbursement for ASE certifications.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma (or GED), preferred.
• 1 year experience maintaining vehicles or a related certificate within 60 days of obtaining.
• One or more Medium/Heavy Truck ASE Certifications and Class A CDL preferred.
• Must possess necessary tools to perform tasks.
• Valid driver’s license may be required depending on assignment.
• Knowledge of testing equipment, gauges and tools used in troubleshooting/repairs.
• Basic computer skills including maintenance programs and diagnostic systems.
• Basic knowledge of gas and diesel engines.
• Familiarity with precise measurement instruments and lifting devices preferred.
• Able to lift components weighing ~110 pounds with assistance.
• Ability to operate vehicles with manual and automatic transmissions.
• Paint and body work experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative and routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment.
• Performs basic diagnostics to identify trouble sources and makes adjustments for safe operation.
• Work with technicians on preventative maintenance and repairs.
• Document all maintenance performed, via reports written and electronic.
• Perform safety inspections and document the work.
• Paint and body work on vehicles when required.
• Comply with laws, regulations, and company policies.
• Perform other duties as required.
