Job summary

FedEx Freight in New Jersey is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Technician who will perform preventive maintenance and repairs on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and related equipment to ensure safe, reliable operation. The role requires basic diagnostics, documentation, safety inspections, and potential paint/body work.

Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED and relevant vehicle maintenance certification, with ASE certifications and Class A CDL preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required or preferred.
• Must have or be within 60 days of obtaining a vehicle maintenance certificate or completion of FedEx Freight Apprentice Program.
• One or more Medium/Heavy Truck ASE Certifications and Class A CDL preferred.
• Must possess necessary tools to perform assigned tasks.
• Valid driver's license may be required depending on work assignment.
• Basic computer skills including maintenance programs and diagnostic systems.
• Familiarity with testing equipment, gauges and tools for vehicle troubleshooting and repairs.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative and routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment.
• Performs basic diagnostics to identify trouble sources and adjust equipment for safe operation.
• Works with other technicians in preventative maintenance and repairs.
• Ensures proper documentation of maintenance performed in writing and electronically.
• Performs safety inspections and documents the work.
• Performs paint and body work on vehicles as required.
• Complies with laws, regulations and company policies.

Education

High School Diploma or GED

Vehicle maintenance certificate

ASE Certifications (Medium/Heavy Trucks)

Class A CDL preferred

Basic computer skills

Ability to lift up to 110 pounds

Ability to work independently or in a team
