Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a Mechanic/Technician to maintain and repair our fleet of diesel tractors, trailers, and related equipment. The role involves preventive maintenance, diagnostics, documentation, and safety inspections, with opportunities for tool reimbursement and ASE certification incentives.

The position requires heavy equipment experience or diesel mechanic education, plus the ability to lift heavy components and work independently or as part of a team.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred
  • 1 year vehicle maintenance experience or FedEx Apprentice Program completion
  • One or more Medium/Heavy Truck ASE Certifications and Class A CDL preferred
  • Must possess necessary tools to perform tasks
  • Valid driver’s license may be required depending on assignment
  • Knowledge of testing equipment, gauges and vehicle diagnostics
  • Basic computer skills including maintenance programs
  • Basic knowledge of gas and diesel engines
  • Familiarity with precision measurement instruments and lifting devices preferred
  • Able to lift approx. 110 pounds with assistance or equipment
  • Ability to operate vehicles with manual/automatic transmission
  • Ability to enter/exit driver’s compartment safely
  • Paint and body work experience preferred
  • Ability to work independently or as a team
  • Basic written and verbal communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Performs preventive and routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment
  • Performs basic diagnostics to identify trouble sources and makes adjustments
  • Works with other technicians on preventive maintenance and repairs; documents work
  • Performs safety inspections and documents the work
  • Performs paint and body work on vehicles as required
  • Comply with applicable laws, regulations, and company policies
  • Perform other duties as required
