Job summary

WM is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor in Birmingham, AL to lead the maintenance shop team and coordinate all repair activities. The role requires strong supervision, safety compliance, and hands-on mechanical duties as needed.

The candidate will manage workflow, review repairs, and ensure quality while maintaining inventory levels. A valid driver's license and high school diploma or GED are required for hire, with a focus on safety and team development.

Qualifications

  • 4 years years of relevant work experience in fleet maintenance.
  • 2 years supervisory experience in a maintenance setting.
  • Driver's License is required upon hire.
  • Strong leadership and coaching abilities to manage a team.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the maintenance shop staff.
  • Coordinate and supervise all maintenance work and repairs; monitor progress and quality.
  • Review driver repairs and other maintenance requests and prepare work order documents.
  • Perform mechanical duties as needed.
  • Monitor inventory of replacement parts and restock as needed.
  • Coach, train, evaluate employee performance and conduct disciplinary action when necessary.
  • Interpret and ensure consistent application of organizational policies and safety regulations.
  • Create and submit reports as necessary.
