Qualifications

• Possession of a North Carolina driver’s license.
• Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred with automotive/equipment focus.
• Four years of progressively responsible experience in maintenance/repair of vehicles and equipment; two years in a supervisory role.
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• ASE Heating and Air Conditioning Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate maintenance operations in the Fleet Division; set service levels and staffing.
• Develop and implement goals, objectives, policies, and priorities for Fleet services including maintenance and repair of all vehicles and equipment.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency and implement improvements.
• Establish schedules and methods for fleet repair and maintenance; implement policies.
• Assist in managing warranty claims and accident repair costs.
• Hire, train, motivate, and evaluate staff; provide training and address deficiencies.
• Plan, direct, coordinate, and review the work plan for the Fleet division; assign activities; monitor workflow.
• Develop annual Fleet Division budget; forecast funds for staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies.
• Establish and monitor controls for parts, supplies, and tools; approve expenditures.
• Serve as liaison with other departments and outside agencies; respond to inquiries.
• Conduct organizational studies; prepare staff reports; modify policies as appropriate.
• Ensure safety practices; coordinate hazardous materials training and maintain training records.
• Attend professional group meetings; stay current with trends in fleet maintenance.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
