Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a Fleet Maintenance Supervisor in Durham, NC, to oversee a maintenance shop and supervise technicians responsible for preventive maintenance and repairs on heavy equipment, trucks, and containers. The role focuses on safety, compliance, and timely maintenance in a high-volume environment.

The incumbent will plan repair work, monitor operations, and coach technicians while ensuring adherence to DOT/OSHA and company procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of experience in maintenance with heavy equipment.
• 1 year of supervisory experience in a lead technician role or similar.
• Ability to manage safe working practices and federal/state regulations (DOT/OSHA).

Responsibilities

• Provide direction to technicians and lead shop to perform safe, efficient repairs and maintenance.
• Plan and schedule repair work to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
• Monitor performance, report to management, and recommend process improvements.
• Conduct training, performance evaluations, and corrective actions as needed.
• Oversee inventory control and budget compliance; approve expenses; coordinate larger repairs with management.
• Perform inspections and oversee diagnostics on complex repairs; road tests as needed.
