Job summary

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required; additional technical education or automotive/diesel credentials preferred.
• Considerable experience in automotive, diesel, heavy-equipment, or school-bus maintenance and repair; supervisory or lead-mechanic experience preferred.
• Must possess, or obtain within district guidelines, a valid Class A CDL with tanker and school bus endorsements and other credentials.
• Must meet NC DPI and DMV requirements for school-bus maintenance and inspection responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Plans, organizes, prioritizes, assigns, and monitors daily work in the transportation maintenance shop.
• Supervises and evaluates mechanics and shop staff; identifies training needs and promotes safe practices.
• Develops and implements procedures for preventive maintenance, inspections, and repairs.
• Performs diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of buses and district vehicles; documents work and costs.
