Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling is seeking a Vehicle Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance team responsible for diesel-powered fleet upkeep and safety compliance across our facilities in Ohio. You will hire, train, and coach staff, manage budgets, and partner with operations to keep vehicles and containers running smoothly.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of management experience in heavy vehicle maintenance, strong problem-solving skills, and a track record of reducing downtime while ensuring

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of management experience in a similar setting.
• 3–5 years performing repairs/maintenance on diesel-powered heavy vehicles.
• Experience with maintaining parts inventory.
• Familiarity with repair manuals, electrical wiring, and schematics for troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Manages the maintenance staff, including hiring, training, scheduling, performance management, and overtime authorization.
• Communicates with operations regarding fleet vehicles, containers, and equipment status.
• Controls maintenance costs relating to personnel, purchasing, inventory, and outsourcing of repairs; participates in budget process.
• Identifies trends in road calls, breakdowns, and shop hours; maintains preventive maintenance program.
• Trains and directs employees to improve performance; ensures safety and quality standards are met.
