Job summary

Rumpke Waste & Recycling is seeking a Vehicle Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance team and ensure a safe, reliable fleet of vehicles and equipment. The role involves hiring, training, and supervising staff, coordinating with operations, and controlling costs.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years of management experience and hands-on diesel maintenance experience, with inventory control skills and the ability to travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of previous management experience.
• 3–5 years performing repairs and maintenance on diesel-powered, heavy vehicles, hydraulics, equipment, and related components preferred.
• Experience with maintaining parts inventory.
• Familiarity with repair manuals, electrical wiring, and schematics is necessary to troubleshoot.
• Ability to travel between offices, as required.

Responsibilities

• Manages the maintenance staff, including hiring, training, scheduling work assignments, performance management, discipline, and overtime authorization.
• Regularly communicates with operations regarding fleet vehicles, containers, and equipment status.
• Controls maintenance costs relating to personnel, purchasing, inventory control, and outsourcing of repairs; participates in budgeting.
• Identifies trends in road calls, breakdowns, and shop hours and responds accordingly.
• Maintains a preventive maintenance program to ensure vehicle safety and efficiency.
