Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to repair and maintain company equipment, perform preventative maintenance, and diagnose mechanical and electrical issues.

You will read precision instruments and use diagnostic tools to troubleshoot and ensure timely repairs in a safety‑driven, team‑oriented environment. Responsibilities include repairing all parts of equipment, welding as needed, and complying with DOT/OSHA regulations.

Qualifications

• Education: High School degree or equivalent
• Experience: Experience as maintenance technician or equivalent education
• Experience with truck repair, body and frame repair
• Must provide own tools to perform job duties
• Must possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (when required)
• Proficient reading of precision instruments and diagnostic tools
• Knowledge of DOT, EPA, ICC and OSHA rules and regulations

Responsibilities

• Build, rebuild and repair all parts of company equipment as may be required in the department
• Diagnose any mechanical, electrical or other breakdown or failure to a motor truck or related equipment
• Read precision instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, voltmeters, digital multi-meters, calibrators and other electronic diagnostic tools
• Troubleshoot and perform failure analysis of component parts and systems on the truck or trailer
• Apply knowledge of welding skills and metals to complete truck repairs
• Welding on converter dollies must be horizontal and vertical without air pockets
• Adhere to DOT, EPA, ICC and OSHA rules and regulations
