Job summary

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to keep our fleet in top condition. You will perform preventative maintenance, diagnose both mechanical and electrical issues, and ensure timely, compliant repairs to minimize downtime.

The role requires experience with truck systems, use of precision measurement tools, and a willingness to work in a fast-paced, safety‑driven environment. Excellent teamwork and reliability are essential.

Qualifications

• Education: High School degree or equivalent.
• Experience: Experience working as a maintenance technician or equivalent education.
• Experience with truck repair, body and frame repair.
• Must provide own tools to perform job duties.
• Ability to complete required paperwork and records.
• Must possess a valid Commercial Driver’s License (when required).
• Working knowledge of most systems located on a truck/truck tractor, a semi-trailer or converter dolly.
• Proficient at reading precision instruments such as micrometers, dial indicators, bore gauges, voltmeters, digital multi‑meters, calibrators and other electronic diagnostic tools.

Responsibilities

• Repair company equipment in a safe, timely, cost effective and practical manner, including preventative maintenance and diagnostics.
• Diagnose mechanical, electrical or other breakdowns on trucks and related equipment.
• Read precision instruments and perform electronic diagnostics.
• Weld and repair drawings or components as needed.
• Adhere to DOT, EPA, ICC and OSHA rules and regulations.
