Job summary

FedEx Freight is seeking a Mechanic/Technician to maintain and repair our fleet of diesel tractors, trailers, forklifts and related equipment. The role emphasizes preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and timely service to ensure safe operation.

Starting pay is $29.04 per hour with additional earnings for ASE Master Certification, tool reimbursement, and other benefits. Must be able to lift heavy components and work independently or with a team in a dynamic fleet environment.

Qualifications

• One year of vehicle maintenance experience or completion of an ASE/Vocational program or FedEx Freight Apprentice with satisfactory performance.
• One or more Medium/Heavy Truck ASE Certifications and Class A CDL preferred.
• Must possess necessary tools to perform tasks.
• Valid driver's license may be required depending on work assignment.
• Knowledge of testing equipment, gauges and tools for troubleshooting.
• Basic computer skills including maintenance software and diagnostics.
• Basic knowledge of gas and diesel engines.
• Familiarity with precision measurement instruments and lifting devices preferred.
• Able to lift components weighing ~110 lbs with assistance.
• Ability to operate trucks with manual and automatic transmissions.
• Paint and body work experience preferred.
• Ability to work independently or as a team.
• Basic written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative and routine maintenance on tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment.
• Performs basic diagnostics to identify trouble sources and makes necessary adjustments.
• Works with other technicians in performing preventative maintenance and repairs.
• Ensures proper and accurate documentation of all maintenance performed, completes reports in writing and electronically.
• Performs safety inspections of equipment and documents the work.
• Performs paint and body work on vehicles, as required.
• Comply with all applicable laws/regulations and company policies/procedures.
• Perform other duties as required.
