Job summary

Vermeer in Freeman, SD is hiring for Welder I on first shift. You will gain foundational welding skills while contributing to safety and continuous improvement. The role emphasizes precision, adherence to drawings, and collaboration across teams.

You’ll complete the Weld Training Program and earn AWS GMAW-P certification. This is a hands-on, on-site position focused on quality and process improvement within a supportive team.

Qualifications

• Entry-level welding experience or formal training preferred.
• Must complete Vermeer’s Weld Training Program and AWS GMAW-P certification to D14.0 1G-UL.
• Able to read blueprints and welding symbols with precision.
• Able to access and interpret digital work instructions and drawings.

Responsibilities

• Complete weldments in various positions according to blueprints and welding procedure specifications.
• Prepare, position, and align components using fixtures; bolt, clamp, and tack weld parts.
• Safely operate an oxyfuel cutting torch for preheating and maintain equipment.
• Read blueprints and welding symbols; apply decimal-based measurements for precision.
• Access digital drawings and work instructions via computer systems.
• Identify welding defects and support corrective actions.
• Support 5S and workplace organization and contribute to metrics.
