Job summary

Acumed LLC, part of Marmon Holdings backed by Berkshire Hathaway, is looking for a Machinist to operate turning machines on first shift in Hillsboro, OR. You will work under supervision to ensure quality, cost and delivery, while mentoring junior machinists and collaborating with process engineers.

Qualified candidates typically have 1–2 years of related Acumed experience or 3–5 years external experience, and a high school diploma or equivalent.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Ability to read and understand instructions and documentation.
• Basic math and measurement skills required.
• Experience with machining processes is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Under close supervision, operates production machine tools to maintain quality, cost and delivery.
• Operates turning machines, including lathes and Swiss lathes.
• Starts and observes machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance machining.
• Visually inspects surfaces for flaws and smoothness.
• Empties chip bins and maintains clean work area and equipment.
• Uses established practices to ensure quality during operation including documentation.
• Monitors machine performance and participates in preventive maintenance.
• Performs general set-ups to maximize utilization.
• Mentors and trains Machinist 1 and assists with process improvements.
