Job summary

Aerotek is hiring a 1st Shift CNC Machinist (Lathe) in Ashland, OH. You will set up and operate up to two CNC machines, primarily lathes with live tooling, interpreting blueprints and job orders to meet tight tolerances.

Work 1st shift, Mon–Thu 6:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m. and Fri 6:00 a.m.–10:00 a.m. This contract-to-hire role offers a climate-controlled shop, with a focus on quality and teamwork in a small shop environment.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years of experience operating and setting up CNC machines in a job shop.
• Strong lathe experience with live tooling and precision components.
• Proficient in setting up/tearing down machines and performing changeovers.
• Able to read blueprints/ drawings and determine tooling needs.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate CNC machines (lathe focus) in a small job shop.
• Perform complete machine setups and tear downs, including changeovers.
• Read blueprints and determine specifications and tooling requirements.
• Make control edits, offsets, and tool changes to meet tolerances.
• Select tooling based on material and geometry; verify with precision measuring tools.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and perform minor repairs to keep machines running.
• Document production activities and measurements for each job.
