Job summary

Tyson Foods in Dakota City, Nebraska seeks a Manager, Carcass Merchandising to lead first shift carcass merchandising and support second shift leadership. You will ensure accurate USDA grade application, optimize product value, and align inventory and staffing across shifts.

You will supervise, coach, and develop staff, monitor grading and reporting systems, and partner with planning, operations, and USDA personnel to maintain performance and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent fresh meats, carcass merchandising, grading, meat judging, or plant operations experience may be considered.
• 7+ years of carcass merchandising, grading, beef plant operations, meat judging, or related fresh meats experience required.
• Prior leadership, supervisory, training, shift coordination, or team lead experience preferred.
• Knowledge of USDA grade and yield standards, merchandising specifications, tagging and discounting procedures, grading accuracy, and carcass value drivers preferred.
• Ability to develop team members through coaching, cross-training, continued education, skill validation, and succession planning activities.
• Basic Microsoft Office skills required; experience with plant operating systems, grading camera systems, scale systems, scheduling tools, and reporting systems preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead first shift carcass merchandising activities and support second shift execution in conjunction with leadership.
• Provide direct supervision, coaching, performance guidance, scheduling support, and daily accountability.
• Monitor grading systems, camera accuracy, scale processes, and related reporting for USDA compliance.
• Coordinate grade projections, cattle flow, product availability, and inventory needs with planning.
• Serve as primary site escalation point for grading, merchandising, staffing, and process issues.
• Develop and maintain succession plans and lead continued education for department staff.
