Job summary

Badger Meter, Inc. is seeking a Firmware Test Engineer I to maintain and test firmware products under direct supervision. You will write programs to test firmware features, run verification activities, and help improve test coverage.

You will design automated test frameworks and fixtures, debug issues, and collaborate with engineers, QA, and operations to ensure reliability and performance. The role requires a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or Computer Science and hands-on

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field
• No prior experience required

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute firmware verification and validation test plans based on design specifications
• Develop and maintain test procedures, test reports, and engineering documentation
• Design, build, and maintain automated test frameworks, scripts, and tools to improve firmware test coverage and efficiency
• Design, develop, and maintain hardware and software test fixtures used for firmware validation and production support
• Perform manual and automated testing of embedded systems throughout the product development lifecycle
• Detect, document, reproduce, and track firmware and system level defects
• Collaborate with other Engineers, Managers, QA, and Operations to ensure that the firmware solutions meet our reliability and performance goals
• Assist in root cause investigations of product, field, and customer-reported issues
• Provides status and updates, for the designated portion of the project, to the supervisor or project manager
• Participate in requirements reviews, design reviews, and risk assessments to improve product testability and quality
• Travel to customer sites for product beta testing and investigation of customer issues as needed
• Performing other functions as directed by the Firmware Project Engineer, or Engineering Manager
