Badger Meter Inc invites a motivated Engineer I, Firmware to join our embedded systems team. You will contribute to firmware development, testing, and production readiness for multiple product families, while collaborating with engineering leaders.

The role emphasizes learning, autonomy, and problem-solving in a multidisciplinary environment, with opportunities for growth and hands-on guidance from senior engineers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or CS/Software/Firmware Engineering.
• Basic working design knowledge of embedded microcontroller/microprocessor firmware (C, C++, etc.).
• Familiarly with revision control systems (Git or SVN).
• Basic understanding of digital circuit design and troubleshooting.
• Basic familiarity with implementing schematics for digital circuits, with common ECAD tools (Altium, PCAD, or Protel).
• Experience working with test instruments such as oscilloscopes, power supplies, data acquisition systems, and environmental chambers for troubleshooting PCBs and electronic products.

Responsibilities

• Design firmware component/portion of a project with oversight.
• Provide firmware support for product and sustaining engineering with oversight from more senior engineers.
• Perform product and design verification tests.
• Assist in defining plans/production implementations.
• Write product work instructions/process documents.
• Initiate and implement engineering change requests.
• Participates in multi-discipline project teams, provide input into project schedules, budgets and risks.
