Job summary

Milwaukee Tool is seeking a Firmware Engineer II - Motor Control to design, prototype, test, and optimize embedded motor-control software for real-time applications in our Wisconsin facility. You will contribute to advancing firmware capabilities for power tools and collaborate with cross-functional teams across the globe.

You will design and implement advanced control algorithms, develop test plans, and ensure quality through HIL and CI/CD practices, while aligning with Milwaukee Tool's

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field required.
• 2+ years embedded C/C++ or comparable programming language for embedded systems.
• Working knowledge of closed loop control theory.
• Experience with DevOps, CI/CD, HIL, and unit testing.
• Experience with software configuration management tools, defect tracking tools, and peer reviews.
• Excellent problem-solving skills; able to work under pressure in a dynamic environment.
• Ability to travel 10% of the time (domestic and international).

Responsibilities

• Design, prototype, test, and troubleshoot embedded systems for real-time motor control applications.
• Design, model, simulate, and implement advanced control algorithms independently and with senior engineers.
• Develop, analyze, maintain, and document control system architecture.
• Develop and execute test plans and procedures for firmware applications and subsystems.
• Use laboratory equipment like oscilloscopes, power supplies, electronic loads, and data acquisition systems.
• Track projects to ensure schedule adherence and communicate status to teams and management.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturers on component selection for current and future projects.
