NOTICE OF EXAMINATIONCITY OF BRECKSVILLEFIREFIGHTER / PARAMEDICThe City of Brecksville has announced it will conduct an examination for Firefighter/Paramedic. Applicants must be a U.S. Citizen, have a valid Driver's License, be a High School Grad or G.E.D. equivalent, and must be at least 21 years old at the time of appointment. Applicants must have completed the State of Ohio Paramedic Certification by time of employment.
Applications will be available at Brecksville City Hall, 9069 Brecksville Road between 8:30 am and 4:30 pm Monday through Friday from May 5th through June 3rd, 2025. Applications and additional information will also be available online at
www.brecksville.oh.us. Applications will be accepted, Monday through Friday, IN PERSON ONLY, between the hours of 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM May 5th through June 6th, 2025 at Brecksville City Hall, 9069 Brecksville Road. No applications will be accepted after 4:00 pm June 6th, 2025.
Please bring the following at the time of filing:
- Completed application, signed and notarized
- Copy of Valid Driver's License
- Copy of State of Ohio Paramedic Certification or EMT/Basic Certification
- Copy of Current certificate of completion of Tri-C Firefighters' Physical Fitness Agility Test dated by the time of employment. Commission will require candidate to achieve certification at candidate's expense.
- Copy of High School Diploma (or equivalent)
- Copy of Birth Certificate
Candidates will be awarded additional point credits, if they pass the test with a score of 70% or above.
Extra Credit Points: (copies must be submitted with application):
- Honorable Discharge Papers for Military Service - DD214 5%
- Four Year Bachelor Degree - 5%
- 2 Year Associates Degree - 3%
- Part time member of Brecksville Fire Department 5%
Total extra credit points capped at 10%
The written test will be held at the Brecksville Community Center, 1 Community Drive, Brecksville, OH 44141 on Tuesday June 10th, 2025 at 6:00 PM. Please arrive by 5:30pm to check in and bring your Drivers License with you for identification. Upon a 70% passing grade, candidates will also be required to pass additional testing as required by the Civil Service Commission.
All individuals appointed as Firefighter/Paramedic shall within 6 months of the date of completion of their probationary period reside in Brecksville or in any of the following counties: Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Portage, Summit, Lorain or Medina.
