Job summary

Montecito Fire Protection District is seeking dedicated firefighters to respond to fires, medical emergencies, and other incidents to protect life, property, and the environment. The role includes active participation in training, prevention efforts, and maintenance of stations and equipment, reporting to the company officer or acting captain.

Candidates must hold a California Firefighter 1 certification or complete the Firefighter 1 Academy, EMT certification, CPR for the Professional Rescuer

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Firefighter 1 certification or completion of Firefighter 1 Academy.
• EMT certification.
• CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent with AED certification.
• Valid California driver's license (upon hire).
• No felony convictions.

Responsibilities

• Respond to emergencies including fires, EMS calls, and incidents to protect life and property.
• Engage in training, prevention, public education, and equipment maintenance.
• Follow medical directions per Santa Barbara County EMSA protocols and Department Medical Director.
• Adhere to district policies and participate in probationary requirements.

Education

High School Diploma or equivalent

California State Firefighter 1 Certificate or Firefighter 1 Academy

EMT certification

CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent and AED certification

Valid California driver's license (upon hire)
